Richard Yong Biography & Poker Career
Seng Chen “Richard” Yong is a poker player from Malaysia, as well as a businessman in tech sector (I.T and data-mining). He plays in Macau’s biggest cash games, and is seen regularly playing the highest-stakes cash-games and tournaments (often referred to as ‘the nose-bleeds’) Worldwide.
Richard Yong – Poker highlights
2012 was a breakout year for Yong with some major cashes:
- Yong played the $1,000,000 entry “Big One for One Drop” tournament, finishing in 8th place and enjoying a 1.25 million dollar payday, banking $1,237,333.
- In September of the same year he finished 2nd to Paul Phua i the Aspers Casino 100K High Roller tournament, for a payday of $924,140.
- Yong came 3rd in the €50,000 Majestic scooter World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) event for $521,859
Roll on to 2015 – Yong wins a major high roller tournament in Australia – the Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge, for $1,477,560, and in 2018 he stood victorious in the $50,000 partypoker MILLIONS event in the Bahamas for $850,000.
Yong has a long, long list of cashes and wins to his credit, and is currently the top player in Malaysia (ranked by tournament winnings). Yong’s son Wai Kin Yong is no poker slouch either with over $10M in tracked poker winnings to his credit.
