Poker is a game where the specific rules of the game often vary between different casinos or home game settings. Part of the attraction of poker as a game is that the rules can subtley change from place to place, but yet follow the same basic guidelines enough to allow anyone familiar with those guidelines to play.
However, there needs to be an accepted set of poker rules that all players can refer to in times of confusion or dispute relating to specific poker game situations.
The poker rules we are publishing here at Poker.com are an adaption of Robert’s Rules of Poker. ‘Robert’, being Bob Ciaffone, a well known poker authority who wrote the first rule book for the Poker Players Association, which was the first comprehensive set of poker rules available to the general public.
